Amman Valley Pony Club Fashion Show

`Oh What a Night`

Glitz and glamour are not words normally associated with equine related sports but when members of Amman Valley Pony Club took to the catwalk in aid of Air Ambulance Wales there were sequins and sparkles a plenty. The show was hosted by Huw Rees branch secretary of the pony club who spends most of his time as the face of fashion on Channel 4 Wales presenting the lifestyle shows Wedi 7 and Wedi 3.

Members of the pony club had rehearsed long and hard not wanting to be outshone by the professional models, the younger models being only 5 years old performed their routines to perfection.

The 200 people in the audience created a fabulous atmosphere.

The loudest applause of the evening was received by Sam Jones 11 years old and Tom Rooke 12 years old that were brave enough to show what welsh men wear under their kilts. On this occasion the boys were resplendent in daffodil and Welsh dragon pants!

The equine and country wear were supplied by Claytons based in Ammanford labels included Ariat, Mountain Horse and Toggi. The garments delighted the horsy and not so horsy crowd each outfit carefully styled and accessorised in keeping with the theme and music.

Collections included couture gowns from Bossy Boutique perfect for Ascot and hunt balls.  These were modelled by the older members who are obviously just as happy in killer heels as in muddy Jodhpur boots. Millinery was provided by the award winning designer Kate McKenny. Feathers and butterflies fluttered amongst elaborate hairstyles. Models included a former Miss Wales, together with a former Young ambassador for the WPCS and a finalist from this seasons Britain’s Next Top Model.

What a wonderful evening and a fantastic experience for the members said. Elaine Price the District Commissioner at Amman Valley Pony Club. We are so grateful to all the companies who donated their time and expertise free of charge. The catwalk, backdrop and lighting were generously given and all the models donated their time and stature (most standing at 5`10”) for free.

We are a very busy branch of the pony club with a full schedule of events, with this in mind we are delighted to be able to raise money for Air Ambulance Wales who are always on standby during our seasons.

The total raised so far is nearly £2000 any further donations can be made by contacting Elaine Price on 01792 882736
