The Competition

Phase One: Riding
A simple riding test with points given for each movement. All competitors must complete this section. All Movements must be attempted and are marked out of 5, judged on how well the movement was performed by the rider.

Phase Two:
Either Jumping; A minimum of 16 poles and 12 stands will be needed to build the standardised course. Competitors choose 3 out of 4 obstacles (4 out of 5 obstacles for 11 and over) and are marked according to the severity of the obstacle. Each fence may only be jumped once.
Or Gymkhana; Proprietors may choose 3 out of the list of games or may add their own games if they wish. Games may vary at each competition. Competitors are timed individually and the winners to be determined by a points system out of 10 (for example 1st =10 Marks, 2nd =9 Marks, 3rd= 8 Marks etc). Ponies may be led to the end of the obstacles by an assistant in the stepping stone game.

Frequency
A minimum of three and a maximum of six competitions to be held in each series which can last up to six months. Competitors do not have to be mounted on the same horse or pony throughout the series.

Method of Judging
Marks will be given for each phase on each competition day and will be added up to produce the results for that day and for a running total. At the end of each competition period The Pony Club will present League Rosettes to the overall first 4 competitiors in each age group.
