Coach trip to Badminton Horse Trials, Saturday May 6th
We shall be travelling up to Badminton (early!) for the thrills of cross country day, returning home late in the evening. The Pony Club discount enables children 12 and under to go in free of charge and gives reduced entry prices for adults. The coach is £16 per seat at cost price and places are limited to 46. Price for the trip, to include coach and entry: 12 and under £16; teenagers and adults £31.50. Friends and family welcome. All those wanting to take part or train, please contact Diana. We shall be organising specific training for each discipline.
Booking for rallies and training
Please remember to book for each rally or training session you want to come to! We like to keep groups small and costs down. This is difficult if people book then don’t turn up without letting us know. If people turn up without booking it could mean there are too many in the ride. Please be aware that a considerable amount of organisation is involved in such a full programme and your cooperation is essential. Remember that we (the Committee and I) are all volunteers. Cost of rallies: we subsidise rallies and training with our fundraising activities (we are self-supporting and receive no funding whatsoever; two thirds of the annual subscription goes to HQ for insurance etc.) but obviously there is a limit to what we can do as costs rise continuously and we do organise and hold more rallies and training than most branches. Where we have to hire a venue (XC course or sand school etc.) cost is usually £10 each; however, please be aware that the owner of the venue sometimes increases the price without warning so this could vary and is beyond our control. Riding and Road Safety: approx. £3 per session depending on numbers (BHS exam + badge costs £20 if wanted, otherwise there is an achievement badge); individual dressage lessons £17 including sand school hire, with 3 people it costs £5.50 each. If there is any doubt, ask when booking.
Teams: we enter lots of team events, which give our members invaluable experience and the chance to travel to different parts of the country; as it costs from about £8 (show jumping) to about £30 (eventing) per person to enter, with sometimes up to 24 people in teams (at an overall cost therefore of £192 to £720) all team members will be expected to pay part of this cost (e.g. £5 towards an entry fee of £8). You will be informed before the competition.
Tack and Turnout
Day rallies usually include marks and rosettes for Tack and Turnout; at all other sessions, please be neat and tidy, with jodhpurs and Pony Club sweatshirt, etc. Should you have any doubts or queries, please contact our Chief Instructor on 01736 795083/ 07970737066.
