INTERMEDIATE CAMP 2007

A wonderful time was had by the 17 Western Hunt Pony Club members who attended the annual camp, held at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland. Although it was a bit touch-and-go on the day of arrival, the weather held out well for the four days, and we had bright sunshine most of the time. Members and their ponies arrived at Duchy on the Friday evening, and had a very early six o clock start the following morning, giving them three hours to muck out their ponies and prepare for tack and turnout at ten. This was followed by two hours of expert instruction in either Dressage, Cross country or Show Jumping. Then lunch, and two hours in the afternoon! On the final day of camp, a fun one day event was held for the riders to show off what they had learnt in their lessons, followed by the prize giving ceremony, where rosettes to sixth place were offered for a variety of awards. The riders were given marks out of ten for the effort involved in tack and turnout, stables and beds. All members did exceedingly well, and were extremely polite and well-behaved whilst staying on the Duchy campus. A big cheer also, to all the organisers and the Mums and Dads who stayed the night, and cooked meals for the children. We hope Duchy will have us back next year!
