The Ludlow Hunt Branch of the Pony Club won the Area 7 Rosebowl Competition held at Catton Hall, Staffordshire on Sunday 14th August 2005. This gained them a qualification to compete in the Pony Club National Novice Eventing Championship at Smallwood Livery Centre, Sandbach on Sunday 28th August.

The four team members performed superbly in all three phases (dressage, show jumping and cross country) to beat off the opposition by 8 clear penalty points. Kelly Blumberg, riding Dream of a Truffle rode a double clear to gain 4th place in her section. Nicola Yarnold riding Mask had an unlucky pole off in the show jumping but her score was still good enough to secure 5th place. Charlotte Winter riding Tindip Sultan of Swing also completed a double clear to be placed 3rd in her section. Amy Blount and her pony Notero Lily executed a fabulous dressage test and a double clear to win her section and get the rosette for the best dressage.
The girls have worked extremely hard over the past few years to improve their performances. They have had a lot of training with British Pony Team Coach, Jonquil Hemming, local trainer Sue Charters and Dressage Training with the former British Young Rider Dressage Team member Kate Attlee.
The branch was unable to field a team to compete in the more advanced Area Qualifier for the Pony Club National Eventing Championships but Tanya Ratcliff riding her own Kangaroo Joe represented the branch as an individual. They had an unfortunate pole off in the show jumping but completed a good dressage and fabulous cross-country round to finish 6th in their section.
