Show Jumping

What's involved?

Team show jumping is a great way to represent your pony club. There are many different levels at which you can compete and being part of a team ensures that you meet and become friends with fellow members who share a common interest.

The teams consist of 4 riders of similar abilities. Each team jumps two rounds and the best 3 rider’s scores count. The travelling is usually at least an hour.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY MEMBER WISHING TO REPRESENT BPC IN A TEAM MUST HAVE ATTENDED 3 WORKING RALLIES SINCE 1ST JULY IN THE PREVIOUS YEAR (CAMP COUNTS AS ONE RALLY) AND MUST HAVE REJOINED THE PONY CLUB BY 31ST JANUARY 2008.

We will be expanding our show jumping teams during the next year and hope to hold regular   show jumping team practices, even in winter, so that we can be fit and ready for the first competitions next year!!

If you would like to be considered for one of our show jumping teams but have not been involved before, please contact:

BROCKLESBY PC TEAM S-J at Brocklesby Country Fair Results.

Barlow in the ribbons at Brocklesby.

We had a great day at Brocklesby country fair competing in the inter branch team show jumping competition. The junior team of only three members came a fantastic second place in the intermediate class. This team was made up of Francesa Heath-Smith, Georgia Heath-Smith and Molly Dowling. They went on to compete in the open class and all went clear in the first round but unfortunately missed out in the placings.
We had two senior teams competing in the intermediate and open classes. The team of Amy Biggin, Hannah Goodman, Katie Merryman and Claire Sear just missed out on the rosettes in the intermediate class being beaten only by time not faults. The team of Abigail Mottershaw, Hannah Green, Rebecca Mottershaw and Charlotte Heath-Smith came 3rd in the intermediate class and a commendable first place in the open.  Everyone rode extremely well and all were a credit to the club once again.

RUFFORD PC TEAM S-J RESULTS.

Several members took part in the Rufford Team Show Jumping Competition and we had a great day. The junior teams performed well and gained valuable experience with Ben Chiverton getting a double clear in the 10 and under and the team just missing a rosette.

Two senior teams represented the branch at Rufford team show jumping event. The team of Abigail Mottershaw, Louise Benson, Rebecca Mottershaw and Hannah Green came 2nd in the 90 cm class and 6th in the 1 metre class. The team of Charlotte Heath-Smith, Joanna Rusby, Anna Gilbert and Sheridan Loxley came 6th in the 90 cm and just missed the placings in the 1 Metre class as Charlotte had to withdraw after Milly was injured, thankfully Milly is ok now. All the girls jumped extremely well and were a credit to the club.

MEYNELL PC TEAM S-J RESULTS.

18 members took part in the Meynell Team and individual show jumping competition on a very cold Easter Monday at Hargate Arena. There were classes to suit all, height of jumps from 60cm to 1m 10cm. Each class had  50 competitors entered.

Results.

Juniors:-

Tom Patrick and Bailey Nelson competed in the 10 and under competition, jumping beautifully but unfortunately missing out on rosettes.

In the 70 cm class, Bailey Nelson, Abby Hall, Kelsey Wilkinson and Connor Dubik all jumped impressively as did Katie Patrick, Sheridan Loxely, Polly Chiverton and Rosie Sear in our 2nd team. The 2 teams weren’t placed in this class or the 80 cm class but there were some lovely clear rounds against very stiff competition.

Congratulations to Polly Chiverton who came 5th individually in the 70cm class with a very fast jump-off time of 22 seconds ( yes the top four were even quicker!) and Katie Patrick who came 6th individually in the 80cm class.

Seniors:-

Two teams of older members on horses competed in the 90cm and 1m class.
The team of Anna Gilbert, Jo Rusby, Claire Sear and Amy Biggin were not placed but gained valuable experience competing at this height and all rode extremely well.
The second team of Abigail Mottershaw, Hannah Green, Lucy Cocker and Louise Benson came 2nd in the 90 cm and 1st in the 1m class. An excellent result at the start of the season .Very well done girls.!

It was a very long day with very full classes and the weather was not kind to the riders, but thank you all for turning out to represent Barlow and thank-you too to your parents for supporting and encouraging you.

The pictures below were kindly supplied by Louise Benson and show the Senior teams receiving their rosettes, as well as an after dark shot showing just how dark is was by the time they left to go home!!
