Dengie Winter League Show Jumping Championships
Nervous competitors and mums before the parade for the Dengie Final
Nikki did best of our three members who travelled to Warwickshire for this competition, finishing with just an unlucky 4 faults in the first round Alice and Lucy were not so fortunate and were sadly eliminated in the final. However they all did good warm-up rounds of four faults apiece. Everyone enjoyed the occasion and will forever remember the Chairman of the Pony Club "Mrs Mary Anderson"s words "Whatever happens today, every one of you here (there were 82 starters) should be very proud to have reached this final out of the total of over 4,500 who entered the competition". She addressed the children when they were all mounted in the arena for the parade before the competition.

Fife Triumphant at Dengie Pony Club Winter League Area 1 Final
Seven of our members travelled up to the aptly named "Faraway Riding & Recreation Centre" in Aberdeenshire on Sunday 7th March. We found them recovering from heavy snowcover the previous week, but were warmly welcomed and efficiently looked after. Our seven members went with no great expectations having felt they had achieved well enough just to reach the Area Final, so when three of the first four places went to Fife Hunt Pony Club, and four in the top ten, we were very excited. There wasn't a bad performance amongst them, and some exceptionally good riding on a testing track with lots of pressure. Very well done to Lucy Henry 1st, Nikki McRobbie 3rd, Alice Drysdale 4th who have all qualified to go to the National Finals on 27th March Well done also to Emma Lawrie 8th (she was very fast but knocked the last fence), Emily Keith (4 faults 2nd round after no warm up and going first), Rebecca 8 faults 2nd round and Jenny Drysdale 2 stops first round. Caitlin Stokes from West Perthshire took the other qualifying place.

Quiz Teams Double Win
Congratulations to both the Senior and Mini Quiz teams from Fife Hunt Pony Club who won at the interbranch competition on Saturday 21st February. Winners of the senior competition were Rosie Paterson, Nikki McRobbie, Emily Keith and Jenny Drysdale who won with a margin to spare from Kincardine, Scholland, Angus and the Fife scratch "B" team of Catherine Macrae, Rosy Keith, Colleen and Caitlin Macrae. Jeny also won the prize in her agegroup for being the clearest to hear.
The new Mini competition tried for the first time this year was also a success for Fife, our winning team was made up of Evie Paterson, Rosie Keith, Catherine Macrae and Colleen Macrae with 5 teams behind them.
This was the first time for a long time that Fife have got through to the next round in the quiz, so good luck to the seniors who go forward to the next level of the Quiz competition in Angus on 13th March.

Kingdom Trophy
Saturday 3rd January 2004
Our Pony Club Team won this great fun competition after a very exciting jump-off over a very unconventional course built by Sandra Low-Mitchell and also compared with aplomb for the day by Sandra. Our team were Caroline Peddie, Wills Oakden, Katy Eccles and Helen Summersgill. They jumped 3 rounds having got into the jump-off. Helen had the final round and went very fast clear until she tipped the final jump, so they then had to wait for the last riding club team member who had to go clear or faster. This they did until the last fence which fell and the time was slower, so Fife Hunt Pony Club are going to be the first names on the beautiful new trophy sponsored by Elmwood College. Caroline is getting first shot of it as she was the only one who completed clear rounds which in the words of the team co-ordinator for the day "won them the competition". What a way to start 2004!!
