Competitions and Events / Royal Windsor Horse Show

The Pony Club Tetrathlon Competition at Royal Windsor Horse Show was held on the 13th & 14th May 2017. 24 Members in teams from the eight regions: Scotland, Northern England, Central England, Eastern England, Southern England, South West England, Wales & Borders and Northern Ireland were selected by their Area Tetrathlon Co-ordinators to take part in this special competition at Windsor which we were kindly invited to.

Saturday saw the competition start with the Swim and Shoot phases over at Windsor Leisure Centre. Morgan Thompson, from the Wales & Borders Team, took the best swim with a score of 1324 points (10 lengths 6 metres) and Olivia Mahony from Central England took the best shoot prize with a score of 980. With a break in the afternoon before competing in the run phase competitors, parents and supporters had the chance to catch some of the action in the arenas and do a bit of shopping. The run took place along the bank of the river Thames and saw some very quick times being posted, Hugh Dow from East of England took the best run with a score of 1200 points (5 minutes 0 seconds).

Sunday continued with the Ride phase which consisted of Arena jumping over a mixture of working hunter fences and show jumps, with a slip rail to negotiate as well. It was a testing course with only 5 riders finishing with a 1400 point score, and 6 unlucky riders who were clear jumping but picked up time faults. Central England came out on top for a second year with a final team score of 13667 points, Wales & Borders were a close second with 12847 points and Northern England held onto 3rd place with a score of 12785.
In the individual competition Tom Connors (Central England) finished in first place with 4634 points, Olivia Mahony (Central England) came in a close second with 4552 points and Hugh Dow (East of England) finished in third place with 4544 points.
