Tetrathletes have the opportunity to be involved in International Exchange competitions. In the past teams have visited Canada, America, Australia and Ireland, where they have been shown the sights by the hosting country and taken part in competitions over some challenging courses.

We received an invitation on 3rd November from the United States Pony Club to send one team of four boys and one team of four girls to the USA next summer. Activities will be based in North and South Carolina, and the exchange will run from 13th - 30th July. Given the very limited number of competitors that are being invited, we extended invitations to apply for selection to the top 15 Open Boys and Open Girls on the 2017 ranking list only. The applicants have been assessed at two assessment venues on 3rd and 4th February and the teams that have been selected to go to America are:

Charlotte Whitaker (Oxenholme)
Miranda King (VWH Hunt)
Ella Eadon (Hurworth Hunt)
Rebecca Leadbeater (Oakley Hunt West)

Non-Travelling reserve:
Jess Telford (Beaufort Hunt)

Adam Carlile (Tivyside)
George Budden (Hursley Hunt)
Toby Johnson (East Cheshire)
Jack Stephens (Brecon & Talybont Hunt)

Non-Travelling Reserve:
Jack Church (Old Berkshire Hunt)

Chaperones for the Exchange will be Richard Mosley and Zoe Kennerley.

For 2016 Ireland kindly hosted the Tetrathlon International Exchange Irish Pony Club Members were joined by Members from United States Pony Club, Canadian Pony Club, Pony Club Australia and UK Pony Club to take part in cultural visits and competitions.

The Members that were selected to represent the UK Pony Club were: Ewan Macaulay (Morpeth Hunt), Jamie Butt (Surrey Union Hunt), Chris Harris (Fourburrow Hunt), John Church (Old Berkshire Hunt), Hannah Anderson (West Warwickshire), Hannah Stevenson (New Forest Hunts), Phillippa Hall (V.W.H. Hunt), Alice Harper (Ledbury Hunt), Mollie Hansford (Cotley Hunt), Suzie Barwise-Munro (Percy Hunt).

They travelled across to Ireland with their horses and spent the first leg of the exchange based around Waterford and Kildalton, taking in the sights before the first competition at Kildalton College. The second leg of the exchange was based around Tattersalls, which again gave the group chances to visit Dublin, Wicklow and Maynooth. The exchange culminated with the second competition at Tattersalls as part of The Irish Pony Club’s National Tetrathlon Championships.
The Competition was extremely close and in the boys competition and following a fantastic ride of 1400 scores all round, it was the UK team that took the top spot. In the girls competition it was again close and the UK team finished second but only 406 points behind the Ireland White team and with 3 fantastic 1400 rides from Hannah Stevenson, Alice Harper and Mollie Hansford. In the individual competitions Chris Harris took first place for the boys and Mollie Hansford secured second place behind Ireland’s Roisin Duggan.
