Competitions and Events / Pony Club Polocrosse Home International 2019

2019 will see the third Pony Club Polocrosse Four Nations take place on 20th and 21st July at Celyn Polocrosse Club’s Backford Grounds in Cheshire.

Teams will be selected to play for England, Scotland, Wales or Ireland.
Pony Club members chosen to take part must be excellent representatives of their Branch or Centre as well as good players and team members.  They should be able to mix well, be of even temperament and have high standards of riding and horse care.  Members must send in a CV and reference from their D.C./Proprietor as selection will not only be on their polocrosse playing and riding ability but also on their ambassadorial qualities and current Pony Club involvement.

The format will be as follows:
• One Senior Section – members any age, any size of horse (minimum 138 cms)
• One Junior Section – members 15 years and under, any size of horse (minimum 138 cms)
• One Mini Section – members 12 years and under and ponies to be 138 cms and under, in line with Minis rules

Ages will be taken from 1st January, 2019.

Pony Club Polocrosse International Visit 2018

A team from Pony Club Australia visited the UK on 12th – 23rd July 2018.

The visit will involved:
• Chairman’s challenge – hosted by Limemere polocrosse club at their club tournament
• Two test matches – hosted by Celyn polocrosse club at their club tournament

Limemere Tournament – Chairman’s Challenge
Dates: 14th – 15th July
Three teams, each consisting of a section of seniors and a section of juniors, were invited to play in a special grade that also included the Australian team.

Celyn Tournament - Two Test Matches
Dates: 21st – 22nd July
A UK team, of four seniors and four juniors, played against the Australian team in two test matches. There were also be social activities/excursions arranged in the week between the two tournaments for the UK and Australian teams.

Pony Club Polocrosse Home International 2017

Following a successful first competition in 2015 the Pony Club will held the second Home International Polocrosse competition on 22nd and 23rd July 2017 at Celyn Polocrosse Club’s Backford grounds in Cheshire.

Teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will competed against each other at Mini, Junior and Open grades; all vying to take home the coveted Triple Diamond Trophy.

There are many thanks to be made, including Celyn Polocrosse Club, team sponsors, prize sponsors, umpires, officials and helpers, managers and coaches and of course family, friends and supporters for making it a great competition.

2015 Competition

The first Polocrosse Home International competition was held on 25th & 26th July at the Celyn Polocrosse Club grounds in Backford, Cheshire, where Pony Club teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland battled it out to become Overall Champions. 

Round Robin competitions were played throughout the weekend and whilst Saturday was a dry day, Sunday gave the players some persistent rain to deal with but excellent team play from all Pony Club Members made the chukkas very exciting to watch.

England and Wales played off on the Sunday for 1st and 2nd place, with England taking the honours by 22 - 15
Northern Ireland beat Scotland by 24 - 18 on the Sunday morning to claim third place.
