Open Eventing Qualification:
The intention of changing the qualification for Open Eventing is to enable more members to qualify for the Open Eventing Championships. Therefore, members can qualify via two routes, Either qualifying as usual through Area Qualifying competitions (see rule 33 i & ii) or through their BE qualifying results (see rule 33iv). Please disregard the sentence from Rule 33iv: “If an Area competition is unable to run an Open Qualifying class then the following shall apply”. Valid qualifying results must fall between the 23rd August 2016 and the 31st July 2017.

Open Eventing Teams:
The formation of teams for the championships will fall to the DC/CP to pick and enter teams. Teams can comprise of a mix of qualification routes i.e two individuals from the Area competition and two individuals from the results route. Branches/Centres can substitute members who have qualified via the results route into a team who qualified at the Area competition but the substituted rider would no longer be eligible for the championships as per rule 38 of the Eventing rule book.

Eventing gives Pony Club Members a competition which needs courage, determination and all-round riding ability combined with careful and systematic training of the horse.

Its aim is to encourage a higher standard of riding throughout the Pony Club and to give the young a greater interest in riding as both a sport and as a recreational activity.
