Competitors from across the country showed of their skills in Dressage, Show Jumping, Mounted Games, Horse and Pony Care and Dressage to Music!

The Virbac 3D Worming Open Show Jumping competition had some great talent on display, and as the fences went up it was the Craven Hunt team of Megan Floyd (22), Louise Chamberlain (24), Ellie Floyd (24) and Emily Pope (20) who resisted the pressure and clinch the top spot.

In the Vibac 3D Worming Intermediate Individual Show Jumping it was a win for Katy Jones (15) from the Lord Leconfield Branch, riding Lyra, who jumped a double clear in the first rounds, and was then also clear in jump off in a time of 45.95. “I can’t believe it, I just didn’t expect it” said Katy, who also thanked her Mum for driving the six hour journey and her trainer, Indi Limpus.

The NAF Superflex Intermediate Dressage saw the North Warwickshire team of Esme Hatton (18), Ellie Bagshaw (20), Ellie Roach (21) and Zara Heathcote (21) take the top honours after they all placed highly in the their respective arenas. The team found their qualifying competition really tough, so it was a great surprise to come forward and have such a great day. They also thanked their parents, Branch District Commissioner and Dressage coordinator Jackie Fulton.

In the NAF Superflex Intermediate Individual Dressage it was tight at the top and, after the ride off of the top 12 from the earlier arena placings, Harriet George (23) from the Cotswold Hunt Branch riding Challenge Accepted produced a winning score of 72.2 %. “I am so pleased with Challenge Accepted, I only got her in November and she is only age five, so I wasn’t expecting too much, but she was really good” said a thrilled Harriet. Harriet also thanked her Pony Club Dressage trainer Rob Love, who has helped produce Challenge Accepted.

The Dressage to Music, supported by the Worshipful Company of Loriners, saw a win in the Pairs class for the duo of Cerys Jones and Timony Oritt, from the Tanatside Hunt Branch, on a score of 77.50%; despite having to adapt their ride, fifteen minutes before competing, after they realised it was a full size arena!
In the Dressage to Music Individual ride off, Rosie Boulton (19) from the Pytchley Hunt was victorious, after producing a huge score of 80.28% with Secret Look. “I can’t believe it, it’s one of the biggest things that has ever happened to me!” said Rosie before thanking her Pony Club trainer, Sally Harrison, and of course her Mum.

The Blue Cross Senior Horse and Pony Care Championship saw 20 teams, from Branches and Centres, showing their skills in the stable yard across different equine care based sections. The Chipping Branch proved they were an unstoppable force for the fifth year in a row with the team of Victoria Hargreaves, Charlotte Kenyon and Jack Mellin on a score of 480, over ten points clear of their nearest rivals. The team commented “It’s just amazing!”as well as giving credit to their trainer Laura Hughes, who has the ‘winning formula’.  Victoria Hargreaves also collected the Carole Wasdall Trophy, donated by the Wasdell family in memory of Carole herself, a longstanding Pony Club volunteer who created and developed the Horse and Pony Care Competition into what it is today.

Over at the Equi-trek Junior Mounted Games it was a good day for the Sir Watkins Williams Wynns who took fought off 24 other teams to take the Championship win.
