Tetrathletes prepare to Spring into action this Easter!

The Pony Club Tetrathlon Easter Course, to be held at Stonar School on 10-13th April, will see 24 selected Members from across the country receive top class coaching for their Tetrathlon careers.

Headed by former Pony Club Tetrathlete and Olympic Bronze medal winning Modern Pentathlete, Kate Allenby MBE, the course will cover the four disciplines of swimming, shooting, running and riding that comprise Pony Club Tetrathlon; as well as additional supplementary training for core stability, competition and training planning, psychological training and nutrition.

Each day, the Tetrathletes will benefit from 45 minutes shooting and swimming training on a 1:3 coach to athlete ratio. Dismounted riding sessions will help develop awareness of walking a jumping course and the importance of warming up an unknown horse, an element those progressing into Modern Pentathlon will need to master. Strength and conditioning training will also be on the agenda, whilst classroom based sessions will develop and link themes used during the practical training sessions

Kate Allenby MBE comments “We have a talented group of athletes attending the 2012 course, which is focused on working really closely with every single athlete and helping them develop their specific strengths and improve weaknesses”.

The Tetrathletes will be treated to top class coaches for the sessions, including swimming tuition from Double Commonwealth Champion, World Medalist and Olympic Finalist Chris Cook, alongside John Leighton-Dyson (Shooting), Louise Helyer (Running), Andy Mackenzie (Strength and Conditioning), Clare Forgacs and Gay Farquharson (Unmounted Riding)

“We have a great coaching team who I know will really connect with the athletes” comments Kate, “We can’t wait for the course to start”.
