Pony Club appointment of new Chief Executive

The Pony Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Rhian Gibson as its new Chief Executive. She will be joining The Pony Club in September 2017.

For the last 5 years Rhian has led a team of staff and volunteers to transform the sport of Gymnastics in Wales growing Membership from just 7,600 to over 25,000 in that time. The number of Clubs has grown from 76 to 99, and 10 medals were won in gymnastics at the Commonwealth Games. The workforce has also significantly grown and strengthened – and Welsh Gymnastics hold more and better competitions from grassroots to elite levels.

Rhian will be based at The Pony Club office at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, and working with The Pony Club’s Board of Trustees, Committees and Volunteers, will manage the full time professional team with key responsibilities including financial management, sponsorship, training, health and safety and safeguarding.

Rhian’s passion for youth sport and her enthusiasm and energy for The Pony Club is exciting to see. We are positive that Rhian’s wealth of experience at Welsh Gymnastics puts her in a great position to understand The Pony Club operations, the requirements of our Volunteers and the needs of our Members.

I believe that my experience in successfully running Welsh Gymnastics - a volunteer based organisation – growing its membership and profile – along with my passion for all things equestrian will provide me with a great foundation to lead The Pony Club. Prior to joining Welsh Gymnastics, Rhian had a career in Broadcasting and Media. She was Deputy Head of News and Current Affairs, BBC Wales and Director of Commissioning for S4C (Wales’ Television Channel)
