Job Advert - Sponsorship and Fundraising Officer

Salary:  £23,000 - £26,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Additional benefits of pension scheme, healthcare and life assurance.

Role Summary:

Reporting to Director of Finance and Operations, the focus of your role will be the winning and delivery of sponsorship and other fundraising opportunities (such as grants, donations and legacies) for The Pony Club. Sponsorship is currently primarily focused around the centrally run competitions. However, the successful candidate would be working to develop further sponsorship and other fundraising opportunities for the central functions of The Pony Club, while also providing support and advice to Branches around the country in their own fundraising efforts.

Specific Responsibilities

• Maintain strong relationships with existing sponsors and be responsible for delivery and activation of their sponsorship contracts
• Develop new sponsorship opportunities relating to activities such as competitive events and training programmes
• Develop bids for winning new sponsors and agreeing the terms of their sponsorship contracts
• Investigate other potential fundraising opportunities for The Pony Club (such as grants, donations and legacies) and be responsible for writing bids or other appropriate material for these opportunities
• Deal with all telephone, email and written enquiries regarding sponsorship and other fundraising
• Maintain content of sponsorship and fundraising web pages.
• Produce papers regarding sponsorship and fundraising for relevant Committee meetings.
• Deal with any general sponsorship and fundraising enquiries coming into the office.

Academic Requirements

• Educated to degree level or equivalent vocational qualification in any discipline or equivalent experience.
• English and Maths GCSE at Grade C or above.

Experience/Skills/Personal Characteristics

• Proven experience of winning sponsorships/ fundraising opportunities
• Proven track record of sponsorship/ fundraising liaison and agreeing contracts
• Knowledge of fundraising practices and codes
• Experience of working effectively with a range of stakeholders
• An interest in the equestrian world and a positive attitude to all aspects of equestrian sport would be beneficial
• Self motivated and able to work effectively without day to day supervision
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
• Excellent organisational skills including an ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively.
• High level of computer literacy, including ability to use Microsoft Office programmes and data systems.
• A team player who establishes collaborative relationships both internally and externally.
• Willing, enthusiastic, energetic and prepared to overcome challenges.

Employment Contract

• The post is subject to the employment rules of The Pony Club.
• The post holder will undergo a 3 month probationary period
• Hours of work: Full time, usually 37.5 hours per week, but at points of the year there will be additional work, particularly around events such as all the Pony Club Championships, the Pony Club conference, other key events, which do often happen at weekends (when TOIL is offered). The job will therefore entail some travel and overnight attendance, particularly in August.
• The post holder will be based at The Pony Club, Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth, Warwickshire, CV8 2RW.
• Holiday entitlement is 25 days per holiday year plus English bank holidays to be taken at such times to be agreed.
