Eleven passes for Prestigious Pony Club A Test!

The Pony Club ‘A’ Tests have again enjoyed a solid pass rate for 2012, with a total of 11 passes from the 30 Members and Associate Members taking the Test. Tests were held in both Spring and Autumn, across the venues of Huntley School of Equitation, Talland School of Equitation, Warwickshire College and Brampton Stables.

A prestigious award, and the pinnacle of achievement for Members nearing the end of their time in Pony Club, The A Test opens many doors for progression in an equestrian career and is held by many respected equestrian names, such as Jeanette Brakewell, Mary King and Antoinette McKeowen to name but a few.

A Test Pass Candidates for 2012 are:

Name Pony Club Branch Passed
Hollie Cartwright Clifton on Teme Hunt June 2012
Hector Payne Puckeridge Hunt June 2012
David Britnell Old Berkeley Hunt (Chilterns) June 2012
Jessica Campbell Sandown Chase September 2012
Clara Pilkington Tickham Hunt September 2012
Samantha Crowe Burton Hunt September 2012
Charlotte Agnew Duke of Buccleugh’s Hunt September 2012
Alycia Port Eridge Hunt September 2012
Rory Newton - Dunn Romney Marsh September 2012
Alice Bell Moray & Nairn September 2012
Bethan Eckley South Hereford & Ross Harriers September 2012

Charlotte Agnew proved an exceptional candidate in 2012 and passed her A Test with honours.  “I had a great day!”  trilled Charlotte speaking about her experience, “I must admit I was quite nervous, but the examiners made me feel at ease”.  “For me, passing with Honours was a huge confidence boost, and I would thoroughly recommend the A Test route to anyone interested in furthering their own riding career”.

A Test candidates have to ride a number of unknown horses on the flat, over show jumps and cross-country fences during the exam, as well as demonstrating a practical knowledge of lungeing to improve a horse’s way of going and training young horses. The Test is on a level with the BHS stage IV riding and horse care exam.

“The pass rate this year has been very encouraging” comments Chairman of Pony Club Training, William Blane FBHS.  “Candidates have benefitted from six excellent training days during the year, giving them an insight into the requirements of the exam as well as individual goals for improvement; with the introduction of the B+ Test, alongside the Training Committee’s commitment to offer more mentoring and coaching towards the A Test, we look forward to even more success in 2013!”.
