Royal Windsor Horse Show

The Royal Windsor Horse Show Tetrathlon competition took place on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th May. Despite the weather earlier in the week, the competition took place in glorious sunshine. 

The competition started on Saturday at Windsor Leisure Centre with the shooting and swimming phases, where some brilliant scores were posted. Kerenza Bryson, representing the Dartmoor Hunt and Harris Ritchie of the Eglington Hunt Branch both scored 980, which was the best shoot score of the day. In the pool, the highest score went to Sally Mair of the Deveron Branch with an amazing swim of 1316 points. 

On Saturday afternoon, the competitors completed the running phase at Themes Valley Athletics Centre with lots of support from team trainers and spectators. The fastest time of the day was achieved by Luke Spry of the North Cornwall Branch, which earnt him 1295 points. After the competition had finished for the day everyone enjoyed a well deserved ice cream in the sunshine!

Sunday afternoon saw the last phase of the competition take place.  Competitors jumped their ponies in the BHS Frogmore Arena over a course of show jumps and working hunter type fences, including a slip rail. The course provided an exciting competition with the area around the arena full of spectators cheering the Tetrathletes on. Members kindly lent their ponies to the Members of the Northern Ireland Team to compete on, which was greatly appreciated. 

After the competition had taken place, the Members were given the opportunity to parade in the Castle Arena with the Mounted Games Competitors in front of Her Majesty The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

Nigel Lefroy, Team Trainer for the Southern England team comments ‘We all had really enjoyable weekend, which the competitors found a great experience and a great privilege to ride in the Main Arena in front of HM The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.  We will remember this occasion for years to come’

Results 2012

In 2011, teams from all over the country were represented at the Royal Windsor Horse Show Tetrathlon competition. The team competition was won by Scotland and the individual competition was won by Michael Craig of the Eglinton Branch.

In 2010, the team competition was won by South West and the individual winner was Jamie Paisley from the Eskdale Branch.
