Tetrathlon Coaches

Easter Training Course

The Pony Club Tetrathlon Easter Course was held at Stonar School, Wiltshire on 3rd-6th April 2013.

Headed by former Pony Club Tetrathlete and Olympic Bronze medal winning Modern Pentathlete, Kate Allenby MBE, the course covered the four disciplines of swimming, shooting, running and riding that comprise The Pony Club Tetrathlon.

Candidates were selected from the Rankings List, with 24 Members across the country getting the chance to receive top class coaching to help them succeed in their Tetrathlon careers.

The principle of the Easter Training Course is to coach Members skills that they can take away with with them and apply to their training at home. The Tetrathlon Committee sourced specialist coaches in swimming and shooting, where candidates worked in groups of 3:1 to develop the technical aspects of these disciplines. The running and supplementary training were delivered by ex-Tetrathletes and World Class Modern Pentathletes in groups of 6:1.

The aims of the course were

  • To develop teamwork
  • To give athletes specific individualised training in shooting and swimming
  • To develop running skills and training
  • To develop show jumping skills on strange horses, in preparation for International Tetrathlon
  • To develop goal-setting skills
