Eventing Bursaries

The Eloise & Kate Memorial Trust Bursary

This bursary is donated by the Eloise & Katie Memorial Trust.  The trust was set up in memory of Eloise and Katie Plunkett who both died of cancer; Katie from Leukaemia in 1996 at the age of 16 and Eloise from skin cancer in 2002 at the age of 27.  The trust’s aims are to make grants to causes important to the Plunkett family and to Eloise and Katie.  The three areas of work are: Cancer charities, Parkinson’s disease charities, and Youth enabling charities. The Bursary is awarded to the winner of each section at the Open Eventing Championships, and all five winners receive two days Eventing Training with Gill Watson, FBHS.

The Open Horsemanship Bursary

This Bursary is awarded to the Pony Club Member under 21 who, in the opinion of the Judges appointed by the Eventing Committee, has ridden the most competent horsemanship round on the cross country course at the Open Eventing Championships.  The winner receives 5 days training with Jane Holderness-Roddam on their own horse and others at Jane’s yard.

The Intermediate Eventing Horsemanship Bursary

This Bursary is awarded to the Pony Club Member under 18 who, in the opinion of the Judges appointed by the Eventing Committee, has ridden the most competent horsemanship round on the cross country course at the Intermediate Eventing Championships.  The winner receives the Softly Softly Salver, donated by Lady Clare Howick, and £300 to spend on training for Eventing with an approved trainer of their choice.
