MINOR INJURY
What is a minor injury? This is any injury which requires first aid treatment but where the person is allowed to continue or at least go home without going to A&E.
What form(s) should I complete? DHSS accident book should be completed for these types of injuries.
SIGNIFICANT INJURY
What is a significant injury? This is any injury which requires first aid treatment, and the person is either taken to hospital from the event or recommended to be taken to A&E or Doctor by their parent / guardian.
What form(s) should I complete? DHSS accident book and the Pony Club accident form should be completed for these types of injuries. Branches should submit a copy of each form to The Pony Club Office and Howdens Insurance. Centres may need to make a report to their insurance company.
MAJOR INJURY
What is a major injury? This is any injury that necessitates the injured person to be admitted to hospital for more than 24 hours. This includes: a broken bone (other than a bone in the hand or foot), a penetrating eye injury, or a volunteer needing more than 7 days off work as a result of the injury.
What form(s) should I complete? DHSS accident book and the Pony Club accident form should be completed for these types of injuries. Branches should submit a copy of each form to The Pony Club Office and Howdens Insurance. Centres may need to make a report to their insurance company. Both Branches and Centres must also complete a RIDDOR form (for more information on completing RIDDOR forms, please see document below)
PROPERTY DAMAGE
What is a property damage? This is any damage to a third party’s property by a member’s pony or any damage to a third party’s property at a Pony Club activity.
What form(s) should I complete? The Pony Club accident form should be completed for these types of injuries. Branches should submit a copy of each form to The Pony Club Office and Howdens Insurance. Centres may need to make a report to their insurance company.

Accident Forms
All accident forms, relevant documentation and correspondence must be sent, by email, to The Pony Club Office and Howdens Group. A clear scan or photo taken on your phone would be fine.
