Branches and Centres are encouraged to fund raise for their local Air Ambulance in 2012
Our Charity of the Year
Air Ambulance is The Pony Club’s chosen charity for 2012.
On average, an emergency air ambulance takes off every 10 minutes in the UK, flying 365 days a year in daylight hours. Put another way, during every hour of every day 7 Air Ambulances are attending accidents and medical trauma. Yet Air Ambulances receive little or no Government funding.
There are currently 30 Helicopters leased or owned and in service for the 18 Air Ambulance charities, plus two operated by the Scottish Ambulance Service.
Air Ambulance collectively undertake over 19,000 missions in a year and serve 177 accident and emergency departments
* 40% Road Traffic Collisions.
* 24% Other Medical Emergencies.
* 3% Hospital Transfers.
Collectively the Air Ambulances are the busiest voluntary emergency services in the country!
Branches and Centres are encouraged to fund raise for their local Air Ambulance, which is often a valuable tool in helping those involved in equestrian accidents.
