Tips From Top Riders

Pippa Funnell - Double European Gold Medallist

I was a Member of the Eridge Branch and my mother still helps with the organising of various competitions.
You can only get out what you put in. Do not be afraid to ask for advice form those more experienced than yourself - we all need advice and never stop learning!

Richard Dunwoody MBE - former Champion Jockey and rider of Desert Orchid

I was a Member of the North Down Branch in Northern Ireland and then the Beaufort when we moved to England.
Do not force for a stride on approach to a fence - just let it come to you keeping a good contact on your pony's mouth. Whatever you are doing, make sure you have fun.

Kate Allenby Olympic Bronze Medallist - Modern Pentathlon

I was a member of Spooners and West Dartmoor Branch. I spent many hours being very good and being very bad at camp each year - I want to say a huge SORRY to the Branch!
Forget about the bad competitons - they do not matter. Do not ever be scared to do something - every oppurtunity missed is a failed oppurtunity and you will only be cross with yourself later.

Karen Dixon MBE

I was a Member of the Zetland and Hurworth Branches.
If in doubt, sit back and attack. Make sure you get a good basic foundation in your training and then if something goes wrong you can always go back to basics.
