The Wylye Valley Pony Club Mini's

Is aimed at children aged 3 to 9, and older children who are nervous or are wanting more experience with a new pony, are more than welcome to join in.'Minis' is about having fun, meeting new friends, growing in confidence and learning how to ride and care for our ponies. We try to have at least two rallies a month which are suitable for minis to participate in. Some of the fun things we have done this year are:

• Flat-work rallies
• Music rides
• Evening rallies
• XC rallies
• Dismounted rallies                               
• Showjumping rallies                       
• Picnic ride
• Halloween havoc rally
• Christmas pony party
• General fun rallies
• Highlight of the year. . . . . . . . . . . "MINI SUMMER CAMP" !

Rallies are split into groups of similar ability lasting for an hour with a pony club accredited instructor. We are lucky to have a nice bunch of enthusiastic male and female instructors. Dismounted rallies take place at Southfield house where the children work towards an achievement badge relating to an aspect of pony care followed by a swim in the indoor pool which they are very privileged to use.

Mini camp is by far the highlight of the year where the children and their ponies come for four days of fun and instruction at Southfield house in the summer holidays. It is a non residential camp where parents help their children with riding activities and swimming, starting at 10am until 4pm on each of the four days.

 The children love coming to camp and an improvement in their riding by the last day is generally noted plus they go home tired and with lots of rosettes!  There is a real fab bunch of kids in Wylye Valley and a lot of potential star riders emerging. They are fantastic to watch and a real pleasure to be around.

We also have a good bunch of young boy minis who thought it was great to have an all boys ride and with a boy teacher, no girls allowed!!
