PONY CLUB CAMP 2009

Dear Parents

This year we have a new venue for Camp. It will be held at Pachesham Equestrian Centre, Randalls Lane, Leatherhead, Surrey which many of you are already familiar with; several other Pony Clubs tried it last year and loved it, especially Linda's swimming pool!  We have tried to keep costs down and have set the figure at £350 per member; the initial deposit of £100 needs to be submitted to Sarah McKenny by 1^st March along with your registration form.  Two other payments of £125 will be needed on 1^st May and 1^st July, if you would prefer to enclose two post-dated cheques with your  deposit that will be fine.  This will enable us to budget effectively and keep a tight control of costs in what is a difficult financial year for many. 

This year some changes have been made, Sarah has already told you about the new Pony Club clothing and what you may wear at Camp.  All of you will be asked to supply your own horse feed (details to follow) and Sarah and I will be masterminding the catering with our dedicated band of helpers.  Our Stable Managers will be Portia McKay Forbes and Amelia Sykes, two of our older members who have their A/H test and are training to take their A test riding, many of you will remember them from previous PC Camps. The girls will be bringing their own horses and having lessons with Sarah Finikin.

It is a requirement for those wanting to come to Camp to have completed a minimum of three working rallies between September 2008 and July 2009, these do not include Shows, Inter-Branch Competitions or PC Efficiency Tests, unmounted rallies do count.  There will be lots more rallies arranged over the forthcoming months, remember we are finding that they are filling up fast and we now have to disappoint some members who apply late.  All of those wishing to attend Camp must have passed their D Test, if you have not and wish to take it please contact Pat Evans our Training Officer who will arrange it.

Sarah Finikin will be sending out Fittening Guidelines when you have paid your deposit, this will outline how you can help your pony arrive at Camp in peak condition, ready to enjoy it!  Please also remember that your pony must have up to date vaccinations to attend Camp, if you need to have a complete course you must allow 7 weeks for all 3 shots.  We will be checking vaccination certificates and passports at the Camp Meeting.

Each parent is asked to offer some help during the week, mostly moving in on the first day and helping with the competition on the last. 

There will be a meeting for parents in early June, you will be able to buy badges, medical armbands etc, remember if you need to order clothing it will have to be done earlier. 

We all hope that you will come to Camp this year, please do not hesitate to contact any member of the Camp Committee (myself, Sarah Finikin, Sarah McKenny or Dee) if you would like any more information or are unsure about anything - we can arrange most things if we know early enough!
