Starting a new discipline...

DRESSAGE

We run regular training sessions and rallies throughout the year at Whitewood Farm, Horne, Surrey with our instructor Jenny Evans. Whitewood Farm offers indoor and outdoor arenas, in the summer we also practise on grass at the pony club field. For further information please contact Birgit Clark on 01883 348886 or 07921 778867.

EVENTING

Practices:

The cross country practices are arranged for most weeks during the school holidays and every Thursday evening from May until the end of the summer holiday. Please book in early to these if you would like to come as these are also popular. You can contact me on my numbers on the front of all the programmes to book in or ask any questions. I look forward to hearing from you

What is involved:

Mini-mini (level 1 2ft), Mini (level 2 2ft 6 ) and Novice (level 3 3ft ) eventing is a discipline consisting of three phases. Dressage, show jumping and cross country.

Dressage tests have to be learned before the day and the marks are then converted to penalties to add your overall score ( therefore the lower the better !).

Show jumping is usually next with any penalties added to your score. This is not timed at level 1 and 2 although Level 3 a maximum time is allowed so time penalties may be added if you incur a refusal.

Cross country then follows last and any penalties added to your final score. This round is not timed at all three levels but time penalties may be calculated for going too fast !

Riders compete as an individual , or a team ,if there are enough entries from each Branch. Teams consist of three or four members with the best three scores counted to give final team placings as well as Individual ones.

I organise the entries for most competitions so if you would like to have a go please ring me as early as you can to get the details and send me your cheque.

ENTRIES ARE ALWAYS STRICTLY LIMITED AND CLOSE VERY QUICKLY AS THIS IS A VERY POPULAR DISCIPLINE SO YOU MAY NEED TO CONTACT ME SIX WEEKS OR MORE BEFORE THE DAY!!! I will then do my best to get us in!
