Hannah Smith was placed 9th individually after another terrific run and an incredible 8 lengths 9 metre swim in the 3 minute time slot allowed which was also a personal best. New Forest PC Teams Head West 17th Jan 2010
Thirteen members of the New Forest Hunts Pony Club travelled to Frome in Somerset to join over 170 triathletes on a sunny day in January.
Youngest members Anna Merrit and Tori House both did superbly in the swim and run to earn the team 3rd place. Liam Green joined a mixed team that came 1st and put in an outstanding effort earning him a well deserved individual 3rd place, best shoot and 3rd in the swim.
The newly formed mini girl’s team – Georgina Killingray, Laura Birch, Libby Stevenson and Libby House showed immense enthusiasm and managed to battle their way to 3rd place with Libby Stevenson getting Individual 2nd and best shoot, and the two teams of junior Girls were only a few points apart from each other after the swimming phase but eventually 3rd Place went to Hannah Stevenson, Isabella Huntington and Hannah Smith and closely behind in 4th place were Natalie Green, Hannah Langton and Millie Bird with a well earned individual 2nd place awarded to Natalie Green (and 2nd in the run) and 5th place to Hannah Smith, a great achievement for one of the younger competitors in the class.

28th May 2009 - Newsflash
Hi Team - We have returned from Sunny Stockland Lovell in one piece - Exhausted, wet, muddy and needing a good nights sleep in a proper bed - and thats just the parents! Jamie, the Junior teams and Sophie as an individual all did really well - not the usual shoot scores - but great with all the other disciplines.
Jamie came 3rd, Isabella, Hannah & Nina came team 2nd (which just showed how well they all had to perform without a 4th member) & Natalie, Hannah & Izzy W were not many points out of the placings. Hannah St, Izzy H & Sophie were picked to represent the Area for juniors & minis & the mini area team won!
So well done to all!!
TEAM COURSE WALK
16/17th May - NEW FOREST TET TEAM TRIUMP ON HOME TURF
New Forest Hunts branch of the pony club held their annual tetrathlon on 16 & 17th May. The shoot, swim and run phase of the event was held at Lymington Recreation Centre and the team rocketed off to a superb start with Liam Green shooting a brilliant 1000 in the mini boy’s tri section. Liams’s sister Natalie also later produced a great shoot of 960 for the junior girls - along with 900 from Millie Melluish, Libby Stevenson & Sophie Merritt. Visiting teams enjoyed some great racing with many competitors producing personal bests. Later in the day, the ever competitive and determined parents were champing at the bit to have their go - NF team consisted of Rob Stevenson (shoot), Ian Smith (swim), Lucy Huntington (run) and Leesa Merritt (ride) - they put in a fantastic performance but were marginally beaten to the top spot by the all male Wilton team for the second year running!
Day 2 took place on home turf at New Park – the team’s were out in force and the collecting ring was a mass of green & yellow colours as they warmed up together - chatting and discussing tactics. Members produced some great riding and gritty determination was shown and following some slick calculations from the scoring lorry both the Mini and Junior Girls teams finished in first place. A huge thank you must go to Dave & Chaz for all their hard work building the cross country course, all the parents, families and helpers who pulled together to make the weekend so successful & to the Wallrock family for hosting a team bbq on the Saturday evening.
Keen parents out for a warm up the week before at the RNLI race.

The cross country phase took place at Tweasledown race course (coincidently at the same time Liam Treadwell a former HH pony club member rode to victory in the grand national). 7 junior and 2 mini riders produced some superb and confident riding. The two junior teams lined up in the mid-afternoon sunshine whilst parents, supporters and dogs enjoyed a grandstand view over the 3ft undulating course. The teams were warmed up by Team Manager, Sue Stevenson and minutes before the first rider departed horses and riders were huddled together for last minute team talk and tactics briefing. One by one they quietly and confidently rode this technical track and came back with maximum points to carry through to the next day. Posy Hewitt also gained a fantastic 3rd place as an individual in the 3 ft Hunter Trial on Basil, as well as enjoying a clear round on her sisters horse Jake in the tet section. A big well done to Hannah Langton who produced a clear round on a pony that she had sat on only twice before the event. This weekend saw the New Forest team out in force. Seventeen members headed to Dauntseys' School Nr Devises. All competitors had a great day out and performed brilliantly in their teams as well as individually. It was a well run but hectic day, with most parents having more than one child competing. Hats off to the Wallrock family with all four children taking part in different teams!
However it all paid off with all teams coming in the top 3 in their age group as follows;
Mini Girls - team 1st - Hannah Smith 2nd, Sophie Merritt 4th, Libby Stevenson 6th, Laura Maughan 10th - with Hannah & Libby getting best shoot of 940 & Libby 1st place for 9yrs & under. New member Libby House made up a mixed team on her 2nd time out and got her personal best in the swim.

TAKING IT EASY BEFORE THE RUN
NEW FOREST TETRATHLON TEAM – TEAMS TAKE TOP SPOTS.
The New Forest Pony Club Tetrathalon team recently competed in the Chiddingfold Farmer annual tetrathalon. The event was run over two weekends with the XC Riding phase taking place on 12th October – the club fielded two teams and a number of individuals. Both of the teams rode brilliant clear rounds giving them maximum points to go forward into the shoot, swim and run. The following Sunday we left the ponies and trailers at home and headed off with pistols, spikes and goggles and with high spirits we were looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead – and what a day we had! The Junior Girls came 2nd as a team with individual placing in their age groups of 3rd for Izzy Huntington, 4th - Hannah Stevenson, 6th Nina Wallrock, 7th -Natalie Green and 10th Hannah Langton,. The Mini Girls Team also had a fantastic day and finished in the top spot. Hannah Smith won her section individually and also took 1st shoot and 1st run with Sophie Merritt very closely behind in second place. Izzy Wallrock also produced a brilliant 2nd place in her section. Two great team efforts. Our other competitors taking part in the triathlon and biathlon sections also had great days with the superb Libby Stevenson taking the top spot again in her triathlon, Angus Huntington 5th in the mini boys and last but by no means least our youngest team member, little Anna Merritt at just 5 years old produced an outstanding swim and run and was placed 5th in her section. Great day and great determination from everyone involved!
