Some Members may not be clear about the exact dress code that we expect of our Members while out and about in the Pony Club. To help you, please note the following:
At all Pony Club mounted events - Rallies, Team trainings, Happy Hackers and Pony Club Competitions (ours or other branches):-
A hat must be worn at all times whilst mounted, which must conform to one the following minimum standards and must also contain the BSI Kitemark and CE mark. PAS 015:1998 or EN 1384:1996 or BS EN 1384:1997 Alternatively either the Snell E2001 with the official Snell label with number or AS/NZs 3838 1998 or AS/NZs 3838 2003 with the SAI Global symbol. These must also bear the CE mark. No hats with a fixed or crushable peak will be allowed for cross-country, either during competitions or schooling (i.e. rallies) at 0.80m and above.*
Your hat needs to be tagged by Emma Hill or Nikki Bakewell and if you are unable to find us at a rally etc., please feel free to come to our houses to have it done, but call first to see if we are there!
Hairnets are to be worn at all times if your hair is long enough to reach your collar - this is a safety requirement and will be enforced at all disciplines.
For Safety reasons, NO jewellery (including "sleepers") may be worn other than a wristwatch, a stock pin worn horizontally or a tie clip. Members who are contemplating piercing their ears or any other part of their body should be aware that they will not be allowed to participate in Pony Club mounted activities until such a time as the "sleepers" can be safely removed.
Body Protectors are optional except for cross-country phases of tests, horse trials, tetrathlon, hunter trials, and cross-country rallies where they are compulsory and must be of a standard approved by BETA. Body protectors should not weigh more than 2% of the rider's body weight.
Polo shirts and white polo trousers may be worn for polo.
Jacket, Shirt, Badge, PC tie, (16 year olds and upwards may wear a plain white or cream stock with a black or navy jacket, or a coloured stock with a tweed jacket) light coloured jodhpurs, short or long boots and gloves should be worn. Half chaps are optional, but must be the same colour as your boots.
In bad weather, warm/waterproof coats may of course be worn, but they must be buttoned up for safety reasons.
Members will be allowed to wear either a Hursley Polo shirt or Rugby shirt for the following Pony Club activities:
It will, of course, still be quite acceptable to continue wearing your white shirts and ties at any time if you so wish, and full Pony Club dress will still be needed for the competition at the end of camp.
White shirts and ties must be worn at Working Rallies, Showjumping Rallies, Flatwork Rallies etc., but you are entitled to wear your sweatshirt rather than a jacket.
Tack should be in good repair and clean, with attention to stitching etc., and should be well fitted. Bridles should be made of leather and girths, reins and leg boots should preferably be brown or black. Numnahs must be a plain colour. All bandages and velcro straps should be taped for cross-country.
We hope this will clear up any queries you may have, but please do not hesitate to call me if you need to.
Emma Hill.
We can now offer our own range of HPC clothing. This will be organized by Jo Binks through her company "Jellybeanz".
The range at the moment includes hoodies, jackets, polo shirts, rugby shirts and baseball caps with a HPC logo embroidered on them. These garments will be allowed to be worn at camp and various other Pony Club activities.

The polo shirt has the logo left chest, the cap has a logo across the front and the hoodie, jacket & rugby shirt has logo left chest plus 'HURSLEY' across the back.
All garments are of high quality and washability! They are very reasonably priced.
