If you’re new to the Pony Club, here’s all you need to know about the Show Jumping Teams, and how to become a member.

As with the other disciplines, each summer we compete against all the other Pony Club Branches in our Area, Area 14.  Usually the two highest placed teams are eligible to go forward to the Championships held in mid-August.  In order to compete in these teams both you and your pony/horse must have attended at least three rallies since 1st July 2008.  Camp counts as one rally.

We hope, as always, to field teams for the Novice Challenge, Intermediate and Senior classes.  Teams consist of four members, and we can send Intermediate and Senior individuals too.  There is also an Area Competition for Junior teams. Heights are:

Juniors; (12 and under on 1st January 2009) 2’ 6” – 2’ 9”

Novice Challenge: 3’

Intermediate: 3’ 3”

Senior: 3’ 7”

Training will start in the New Year and we are very lucky in that Tammy Weal has agreed to be our team trainer.  She also trains the Horse Trials teams and so we will combine our trainings.

Besides training it is very important to get out and about competing.  During the winter months the competitions are held indoors and there are many to choose from.  See ‘What’s On’ by visiting www.pcuk.org/hursley. There is also the Dengie Winter League Show Jumping, which we mentioned in the last newsletter. Throughout the year some competitions include teams.  We often send teams and these events are fun and provide good experience.

If you have any queries or need further information please call and do remember to let us know how you are getting on.
