Our February Half Term newsletter & rally return are available here to view & print:
Awbridge House.
23rd February 2009.Dear Members and Parents,
How lovely it was to see so many of you at the Annual Presentation Evening last week –
inside the newsletter you will find a list of the award winners and nominations. As I said that
evening, I would like tobe able to give everyone something as I know how hard you all work
with your ponies/horses and riding – but who knows, maybe it will be your turn next year!
Of course that reminds me to wish all our members who have qualified in the ‘Dengie’ Show
Jumping and Dressage Finals the very best of luck.
Half-term seemed extremely busy, with lots of rallies on, lots of you going hunting which was
good to hear, competitions, an achievement badge and so on. My very hard-working
committee and I are struggling at moments with all the commitments such a busy
programme entails, especially with the First Aid requirements for each rally. We would
be therefore be very grateful to hear of any parents who are trained
First Aiders, and would be able to perhaps help us out by being in charge of the First Aid
of the ride that your children are participating in. We are looking into putting on a First Aid
course, as we have some new committee members and older branch members who are
interested in getting qualified, and if any parents are interested in joining in, please let me
know.
Thank you for all your ideas about the new show-jumps – we will let you know as soon as we
have got them, and are hoping that they might be with us in time for the Junior Show-jumping
show at Sparsholt on 2nd April. If you have not been brave enough yet to go out to a show-
jumping competition, you MUST start with this one. It is lots of fun, everyone is very kind
and friendly, there are lots of rosettes and I am sure you will have a lovely day!
We also have our ODE at Rockbourne coming up on 25th April, (not August as usual thisyear) so can I please ask you to tick the box if you can help at all with this one –
the ODE requires more help than any other show we run!
With the days beginning to lengthen now, we have reached the time of the year for
‘Test training’ What a joy! Please see inside the newsletter for dates of the training, and
for the test dates, and let me know what tests you are interested in taking. If your name
is not on my lists, it may be because I think you should have a year off before you
take your next test – but by all means give me a call to discuss any of them. We are
running a Mini Road Rider Achievement badge and a Road Rider Achievement badge
during the Easter holidays, as these need to be taken before you can take your D Test
(Mini) and D+ to C+ Tests (Road Rider Badge).
We have lots to look forward to over the Easter holidays, and we look forward to seeing
you then.
Emma Hill.
District Commissioner.
