Welcome to the  homepage of the Goodwood Pony Club We are very fortunate to be based in the beautiful surroundings of Goodwood House, by kind permission of the Duke and Duchess of Richmond . Many of our events are held in fields within the park and we use other venues in the area to provide a wide range of activities and training throughout the year.  We try to offer something for everyone, from the youngest mini on lead rein to the oldest, most experienced rider.  Our aims are to make Pony Club fun, to encourage and develop good horsemanship and sportsmanship, and to provide every member with the opportunity to progress and succeed at whatever level suits them.
Our branch is run by a committee of enthusiastic volunteers who work tirelessly to provide activities for our members.  Parents are encouraged to participate in whatever capacity they can and we pride ourselves on being a friendly and approachable branch.  Each year we hold events to raise funds.  The money earned helps to pay for instructors at rallies and to buy and maintain equipment.
Our members can take part in any of the following activities -
Rallies
Members are put into age-related groups and work with an instructor.  At  some rallies members work on a specified discipline e.g. cross country.  Rallies are very social events where like-minded youngsters forge lasting friendships.
Training
We offer training in the following disciplines -

  • Dressage
  • Show jumping
  • Cross country
  • Mounted games
  • Tetrathlon
  • Test training, including Riding and Road Safety

Team managers oversee training for the different disciplines and encourage interested members to participate at inter-branch competitions.
Camps

We run a camp usually in August, for our members, including those on leading rein.  Camps are huge fun.  Members are put into rides of a similar age and ability and participate in all kinds of activities (e.g. flatwork, show jumping, cross country jumping, handy pony, mounted and dismounted games, demonstrations, water fights, etc).
Competitions
Each branch runs a range of competitions throughout the year to raise funds. We try to offer competitions at all levels.  This year we are running junior and senior hunter trials and  dressage competitions.  (We are very grateful to the parents who help us to run these events.)  We also encourage our members to take part in competitions run by other branches.
