Report '08: Click here for detailed reportSenior Camp was once again held at Melbury with the kind permission of Mrs Charlotte Townshend. We are extremely fortunate to be able to use the park, stables, lake and swimming pool as it is the most perfect venue. We were blessed with near perfect weather - some may say that it was too hot but after last year's rain and mud we enjoyed it.
On the riding front we were able to experience many different activities including flatwork, jumping, polocrosse and Hound Exercise. David's Dash was one of the highlights - this consisted of a galloping course with an optimum time, the winner being the person closest to the time.
Afternoon lectures were varied with Roger and Joanna Day giving a talk on making your horse fearless, Delerie and Charlotte Baillie doing a wonderful dressage to music, Roger Scammell's veterinary talk and a Dog training display.
Evening activities ranged from a fox and hound chase through the park with long-legged Poppy Booth leading the foxes, rounders, Scottish Reeling, barbeque, games and swim in the lake, but the highlight must be the evening of dressing up and acting out fairy tales (see Gallery for photos!).
The week finished with a combined training competition. This was run in three sections and the winners were Zoe Roberts, Flora Lickiss and Agnes Busby.
Congratulations to the following who all passed their C Test during camp - Oli Firth, Poppy Booth, Melissa Townshend, Tom Bacon, Charlie Brown, Florence Pisani, Rebecca Head, Jenny Howie, Flora Lickiss, Fenella Pinney, Darren Andrews, Hannah Rees, Poppy Reid, Georgie Harris, Alice Jackson, Emily Simons, Ella Pallister, Leonora Ross Skinner, Millie Wallington and Frankie Houghton.
Our thanks go to everyone who helped make this such a fantastic camp.

Report '08: Click here for detailed reportJunior camp this year was all change, new team and new venue. With many thanks to the Diment family we moved to Oaktree Farm in Higher Halstock Leigh. It was a great new location and courtesy of the Appleby family we were also lucky enough to have a new cross-country course.
We had 50 children in 7 rides ( named this year after famous riders ). A huge thank you to our wonderful instructors; Moira, Millie, Alice, Jacqui, Jess, Robyn and Becky. We didn't have the hot weather from the week before, but it certainly didn't rain like they predicted! All the children had a chance to do the x-country course and they also had a opportunity to have a go at Le Trec which they loved, thanks to Tor DJ. On the Saturday we all went on a lovely ride through the Appleby's land and on the last day we re-introduced a competition. All the children did a dressage test and had a choice of show jumping or Le Trec.
The following children passed their D test: Tom Lewis, Josh Creswell, Amelia Bain, Chloe Diment, Rosanagh Bullough, Laura Hemsley, Rosanna Miller, Emily Clunes, Caitlin Lynch, Johnnie Hemsley, Lucy Ashcroft, Jemima Dempsey, Lucy Buckwell, Tara Byrne, Isabel Smallwood, Jemima Jackson, Emmeline Hughes, Lucinda Miller, Stella Boden and Jemima Owen.
The following passed their D+ test: Zenobia Voguele-Downing, Kitty Appleby, Polly Pentreath, Alyce Lane, Eliza Bacon, Alexa Palmer, Lucinda Elwood, Hugo Hunt and Gus France-Hayhurst. Well done to all.
Emily Coleman won best girl, George Wells won best boy, Isobel Kiltie won best kept pony, Johnnie Hemsley won most helpful and the Diments won most helpful family. A very big thank you to Kate and Adge for all your hard work we couldn't have done it without you.
We also had a fantastic team of assistants who could always be found at lunchtime hiding in the tuck shop! they were: Rachel Hutchings, Melissa Bain, Sophie Townsend, Poppy DJ, Anna Boden, Esmeralda Voguele- Downing, Alice Kiltie, Florence Pisani and Lottie Moore. Also our volunteers; Alice, Abbie and Katie. Many thanks to you all.
We had a fabulous five days, the children throughly enjoyed themselves as did their ponies. We had lots of lovely comments about how friendly and relaxed camp was and it was so lovely to see so many smiling faces. Thank you for all the lovely cards sent and we look forward to seeing you throughout the year on your ponies.
