DRESSAGE NEWS

Congratulations to Charlotte Walters and Zoe Roberts who have both Qualified for the Dengie Winter League Dressage Area competition at Novice level.  They both qualified at The Conquest Centre in Taunton, Charlotte was 2nd and Zoe 3rd  (top 4 qualify).  In the Open Class Zoe won and Charlotte was 3rd, but as they had already decided to take the qualifying places in the Novice section they couldn't qualify for the Open as well, however the qualifying places went down the line and Boo Walters came home with an Open qualifiers envelope! Confused, well yes it is!! But at the next round the Novices ride the Novice Championship test (which is why Charlotte and Zoe opted for this section) and the Opens ride the PC Open Test, horses could be of Medium level (BD Affiliated) so Boo has got some intensive winter training to do!! unless of course she gets in the top four of another Dengie qualifier and decides to compete at Novice level.  Well done to all three who rode really well.

Please let me know if you are entering or qualify or need clarification on the rules, they are a bit complicated this year!!

The Conquest Centre have another Winter League round on January 18th 2009, contact show Secretary Helen Hewlett 01395 232608 for details,(or go on the PCUK website) it is a good place to try and qualify, numbers were not huge but there was good competition, the indoor school is a little spooky and parking tight but the outdoor warm up was adequate. The Conquest Centre is quite close to Pontispool.

dsc_0023.jpg

Bella and Mr Magnetic have been selected to represent The Pony Club in The Mini Major Relay and The Pony Club Masterclass at Olympia. Huge
excitement!

The Master Class will take place in the morning while the relay is the first televised show jumping class of the evening performance.  The draw for the relay will take place after The Masterclass and there will be 8 pairs against the clock.

All the children willepson001.jpg be on 128s and the fences at or around 1.05m.  We don't know who the 8 professionals will be but almost certainly a Whittaker or two. Bella has been competing against the other children all year on the BSJA Premier Circuit and is drawn against friends including Holly Russel Jones riding Swansea Jack and Leah McCrady riding Tommy Tee.

Bella is hoping to be paired with either William or Robert Whittaker.
Selection is based on this years results - highlights include wins at Pony of The Year at Towerlands, Bicton Mini Major, Scope Debut at The Home Pony International and Smiths of Whiteinch at Hand.

NATIONAL DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Congratulations to Charlotte Baillie who came 3rd at the Naitonal Dressage Championships in the Restricted Elementary class on David Batten's Jawa Jawa, a really amazing achievement as the standard is very high and Charlotte concentrates mainly on her Eventing.  Apparently Charlotte 'ruffled a few feathers'!  Credit much also go to her long term trainer and mentor Delerie and to Claire Moir who also helps them.

AREA 14 COMPETITIONS

We had an amazingly successful day at the Area 14 Dressage Competition held on Saturday 19th July at the North Somerset Showground. Our Open team came joint 1st and qualify for the National Championships to be held in Derbyshire mid August. Our two Novice teams came 1st and 4th. The team that came first qualify for the National Novice Championship which is held in Cheshire over the Bank Holiday weekend. Flora Lickiss also managed to qualify as an individual. The Junior teams came 3rd and 4th. Well done to everyone who took part. It was an extremely long day for some!

FUNDRAISING FOR THE BROOKE CHARITY

On Thursday 28th August, Alice and Isobel Kiltie spent the day giving rides to holiday makers and  villagers to raise money for The Brooke Charity.  Using their ponies Frosty and Tiggy they raised a total of £110.04.

The event took place at home in the village of Eype.  The youngest rider was 2yrs old and the oldest 18yrs!

BARBURY HORSE TRIALS INTER HUNT RELAY

The Cattistock Hunt junior team were invited to jump in the inter hunt relay at Barbury horse trials, so on a really miserable wet sunday we drove up there to compete. The team members were Daisy Whitfield on Fran, Livvy Hamilton on Saffron, Ella Pallister on Bluey and Jo Bluck on Flair. The course was half show jumps and half cross country fences with about ten bending poles in the middle which caused raised eyebrows from Daisy, (not easy on a big horse).  Ella's little grey was first to go defying all odds as he has diabetes and foot problems he flew round the course before handing the baton to Jo then Livvy and finally Daisy, Everyone clear, fast and through the bending poles with style we got through to the next round quite comfortably. We made it to the semi-finals where the Tedworth knocked us out, they went on to win it. The team were third out of twelve which was brilliant as they hadnt practised together as Livvy was away at school and when we went to the Pallister's Jo's pony Flair took an instant dislike to their Llama and deposited Jo on the floor (We didnt laugh!!!) The team were smart and smiley all day despite the weather and we will go back next year fitter and faster!
